What Our Community Approach Looks Like!
Here are a few snapshots from our "Dignity for Women" focus groups. We bring approximately 20 women together at a time. We begin as polite strangers and leave as sisters.

It all starts with our Names ... Being able to get to know each other by name helps us to develop authentic relationships.

These are the simple "tools" that our group facilitators use in each of our community sessions. Each woman is registered and assigned a unique number by her name, so that when she completes our series of surveys, she can feel comfortable to be honest with a level of anonymity regarding her concerns, questions, and product choice. We offer a range of products for her to try and to choose from. It is awesome to see them smile and point to specific colors or options that they want.

The women really enjoy the pictorial tour of the menstrual cycle that we have laminated on 6 sheets. For some it is the first time they have seen that level of detail, and leads to all levels of conversation and dialogues. It really break downs the barriers to begin to talk about their various challenges or struggles they face each month. There is usually multiple times the room erupts with laughter or big grins, as we share our most intimate or embarrassing "period stories". There is such a bond that is formed as we vulnerable with each other, and feel the community of not being alone in our struggles.

At the end of the session the women complete the first survey, and turn it in for "dignity credits' in which they can spend anyway they want on a number of various product options. The excitement and buzz at this point feels like boxing day sales!

Whatever the women choose, is noted on their surveys, so that our group facilitators can follow up in the following weeks to understand what they liked or didn't like about their choice of solution. Currently we have 3 surveys taken over a span of 1 week, 1 month and 3 months following the initial session. As the women return and complete the follow-up surveys, they are offered additional products to choose from. We want to provide them with products that they actually want. Choice is such an important part of the equation of dignity.
For as little as $1/day you can impact 12 women within a focus Group with Menstrual/Incontinence Education and with Sanitary solutions (that they choose and customize), which will sustainably last for over 3 years!
Please Join our Kit a Month Club and encourage others to do so too. Together we can make a huge impact, changing entire communities as we restore Dignity, Hope and Opportunity to women.
