Holistic Women's Workshops: The place to be

So incredibly proud of my 3 apprentices from last weeks training! They knocked it out of the park and Of the 27 ladies who attended their first session … 20 of them want to become facilitators within and for their communities!

They absolutely loved our new facilitator tools and there is a smaller team that is helping me to assemble all of the items they have requested/required  to be included in their facilitator event tool bags. (Flip-books, tapestries, underwear and liner patterns, demo dignity kits, props and games)
If you would like to help procure these items you can give here and select from the drop down menu "Middle East "Facilitator" Training Tools or if you would like to help sponsor an additional workshop "Holistic Women's Workshops"

Circles are important. Whenever possible having a single circle, allows the facilitator to make a personal connection with every participant. Each person who attends a Holistic Women’s Workshop… could in the future be their own Facilitator to others … we want to interact and impact each one

Laminated Flip books are super helpful when you have a large circle and for the facilitator super easy to manage and walk around to show specific things.

It takes some effort to laminate … but well worth the investment as they will last for years to come

Having additional flip books for participants to share, keeps them engaged as they follow along … also useful to those who may have poor eyesight and can’t see the larger formats of tapestries that are also being used simultaneously

I love how versatile a large training tapestry can be. Often simply put on the ground in the middle of the circle … or used as a tablecloth with ladies sitting around it.

In the middle centerfold of the flipbook is a miniature version of the Menstrual story tapestry … just pictures … no words.

It allows a participant to immediately retell the story … using the simple imagery

Immediately after we share the story, women break up into smaller groups and take turns retelling the story to each other.

This reinforces what they just heard, and as peers in a non threatening way help each other to remember the details and build confidence to share with others

These are some of the practical “engagement tools” our facilitators use during community sessions. Participants have a very hands on experience of seeing, touching and interacting with sustainable solutions … many of which they can find or up cycle for local available materials.
